Post-Installed Rebar Design for Structural Joints (REB202)

Advanced Methods for Designing Post-Installed Rebar

Post-installed rebar for a structural joint is often used to extend, rehabilitate, and strengthen existing concrete structures. Post-installed rebar for structural joints can be used in multiple types of construction such as concrete bridges, commercial high-rises, school buildings, water treatment facilities, or other common civil or structural engineering structures. In this session, we will review the design provisions in ACI 318 Chapter 17, 22, and 25 that can be utilized for post-installed rebar in structural joint connections. In addition, we will discuss alternative research-based design methods for concrete-to-concrete connections that exist to support engineers in scenarios where their application design does not fit into the model code design provisions.
